Service matter confusion after bifurcation of AP into two states
Hyderabad: Bifurcation of the undivided AP into two states has left the judiciary in a peculiar situation, particularly with regard to dealing with the service matters of the public servants. There are no specific provision in the AP Reorganisation Bill about the service matters.
B. Lakshman, a superintending engineer from the roads and building department of the erstwhile state, moved the HC questioning the jurisdiction of the AP Administrative Tribunal over service matters of employees of the Telangana government.
P. Balakrishna Murthy, counsel for the petitioner, contended that the AP Administrative Tribunal had no existence after the passing of the AP Public Employment Amendment Act of 2014. A bench comprising Justice K.C. Bhanu and Justice Anis admitted the petition and granted the Centre two weeks to answer to the plea.
