Budget 2014: Will help economy says M Venkaiah Naidu
Hyderabad: Union minister for urban development and parliamentary affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said the General and Railway Budgets mark the beginning of ‘acchhe din’, as promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a statement, Mr Venkaiah Naidu hailed Union finance minister Arun Jaitley’s efforts in ensuring that no additional burden is placed on vulnerable, poor and middle class sections of the society and reflecting the government’s commitment to put an end to the “indecisiveness, wasteful expenditure and tax terrorism”.
“General Budget for 2014-15 seeks to revive the nation’s economy,” Mr Venkaiah Naidu added.
by addressing various bottlenecks being faced by the critical sectors of manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructure, SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) and urban development,” he said.
"Enhancement of Plan Expenditure during 2014-15 by about 27% over the actual of 2014-15 is aimed at correcting the distortions caused by contraction in capital expenditure by the previous government," he said.
Mr Naidu said tax proposals made in the Budget would boost savings, private and corporate investments which are the need of the hour.
The budget essentially seeks to build an environment of investor confidence.
Emphasis on building of Smart Cities, urban renewal, provision of basic amenities in urban areas and promoting affordable housing in urban areas is the need of the hour as it is required to meet the aspirations of the countrymen for better urban living, he said.

Venkaiah Naidu thanked the Finance Minister for reassuring that all assurances made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 will be fulfilled.
