Telangana gets notices on Andhra Pradesh Bhoodan Board

Abolishing Board, taking away files challenged

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday issued notice to Telangana government and directed it to file counter affidavit on a petition challenging its action in abolishing the AP Bhoodan Yagna Board and taking away all the files from the Board office at Gandhi Bhavan.

Justice Vilas V. Afzulpurkar was dealing with a plea by AP Bhoodan Yagna Board chairman G. Rajen-der Reddy, seeking to qua-sh the GO issued to abolish the Board and to restore the files and records back to the Board.

The petitioner contended that there should be a scientific division of the Boa-rd for both the states and there was no justification of the alleged high-handed action of physically taking away the files and almirahs of the AP Bhoodan Yagna Board.

K. Ramakrishna Reddy, advocate-general of Telangana, argued that the state government has authority to exercise powers with regard to the Board in Telangana with effect from June 2. The judge directed the state government to file counter affidavit in the case and adjourned the hearing by four weeks.
