No offence in Herald case, says Congress
Abhishek Singhvi claimed that the case had “none of the ingredients of an offence”
New Delhi: A Delhi court had earlier ordered process on a private criminal complaint filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others over a new company acquiring the assets of the company that ran the now-defunct National Herald newspaper.
The complaint alleged various criminal offences took place in acquiring the assets of Associated Journals Ltd by Young Indian, a newly-floated company, and sought a probe.
Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi claimed that the matter had “none of the ingredients of an offence”.
“This is cheap politics, and history shows what happens when one resorts to a vendetta,” he said.
