Committee to discuss Telangana, Andhra Pradesh power issues on July 14
Hyderabad: A high-powered committee will be meeting in New Delhi on July 14 with senior officials from both the states, power grid, REC and the Centre.
At a previous meeting in Bengaluru, the Southern Load Dispatch Centre directed both states to maintain status quo on power sharing until the Union power ministry arrived at a decision.
The Central government had constituted a committee on July 1, headed by the chairman of the Central Electricity Authority, to look into various issues raised by both states. The committee is to submit its report in a month.
Telangana will primarily take up the issue of withdrawal of PPAs by AP and the halting of power supply to the former.
The other issues to be discussed are: over- estimation of power consumption by Anantapur and Kurnool, PPAs with non-conventional energy projects in Anantapur and Kurnool districts, assets of inter-state hydro power projects, allocation of firm power from the Central Generating Station, sharing of coal reserves from coal blocks situated outside erstwhile AP, equity assets, liabilities and management of AP Power Development Corporation, management of APPDCL and pension liabilities to be distributed between the states.
