Mumbai: Rohit Shetty, who has made a career out of making films with Ajay Devgn, will be moving up the ladder with his next venture Singham Returns. The director will mark his debut as a producer with this film that also stars Ajay Devgn in the lead opposite Kareena Kapoor. Thus Singham Returns will officially flag off Rohit Shetty Productions.
An insider said, “It’s a gradual process for a director to move up the ladder after a successful run at the box office. With Chennai Express becoming a blockbuster, Rohit now belongs to a different league altogether. He had chalked out a plan to turn producer and felt Singham Returns would be the perfect project to take the leap. Also, since it was Ajay who identified the director in him, Rohit is all the more glad that it is happening with this film.”
When contacted, Rohit confirmed the news saying, “Yes, I will be turning a producer with this film.”
It might be interesting to note in this context that Raj Kumar Hirani of 3 Idiots and Munnabhai series fame too is turning producer with P.K.
