Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan match for Pakistan peace

Majid Khan, a former cricket team captain, has offered to organise the match

Islamabad: As the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) move towards a head-on collision, Majid Khan, a cousin of the PTI chief Imran Khan, has come with a solution — a single wicket match between the cricketer-politician and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Majid Khan, a former cricket team captain, said that cricket can cool the atmosphere. He offered to organise the match.

“The match can be played in Shalimar Ground in the lap of Margalla hills (in the federal capital) and it should be a single wicket contest,” he said in an interview. “Both can display good cricket.”

While Imran Khan is a cricket legend, Mr Sharif is a keen follower of the game and has played cricket all his life.

Majid Khan said some PML-N leaders had asked Imran to play cricket instead of organising anti-government rallies.

“Both the sides are prepared but the arrangements and appointment of the umpires was causing delay,” he said.
