United Andhra Pradesh late in power booking, Tamil Nadu takes it all
Hyderabad: There is no possibility of any relief from power cuts for both the states as united AP was sitting on files for the advanced booking of transmission facilities.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has booked 1300 MW of transmission capacity in February leaving only 300 MW for all the remaining southern states.
Insiders said that the main reason for overlooking planning was that the cash strapped utilities were unwilling to make advanced corridor booking as they did not get the nod from the government.
Meanwhile, a high level delegation from private power producers like GVK, Lanco, Reliance and GMR met Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Monday regarding gas supply to gas-based power plants, which are now lying idle for want of fuel.
The high level delegation of the association of power producers comprising Anil Ambani of Reliance ADAG, L. Madhusudhan Rao of Lanco, G.B.S. Raju of the GMR group were assured by the CM that the issue will be taken up with the Centre for setting up of an LNG terminal.
Meanwhile, the three-member committee from Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has agreed to supply LED bulbs for Rs 10 against the market value of Rs 400, and invest Rs 1,000 crore in AP for energy conservation.
The team met Chandrababu Naidu and assured him investments worth Rs 1,000 crore over a period of two to three years.
In the first phase 1.85 lakh streetlights will be replaced with LED in 24 municipalities.
