Promotions violated Supreme Court orders
Hyderabad: The state government had affected promotions of inspectors of police considering Hyderabad as part of Zone 6 in violation of the apex court order. The state in June 2013 had opined that there was no other way out except implementing the orders of the SC.
While preparation of statewide integrity list of inspectors of police (civil) was under the process, Mr G. Ananta Reddy approached the Supreme Court and filed a contempt petition in 2013. He requested the Supreme Court to punish the respondents for non-implementation of its order and for not revising the senior list.
Following this, the state government informed the Supreme Court in January 2014 that the seniority list of police personnel had been finalized and the promotions, which were already made, would be reviewed. The promotions would be streamlined as per the SC order and completed by March, 31 2014. The government had approved and issued the seniority list of inspectors in February 2014.
However several petitions were filed against the seniority list in the AP Administrative Tribunal and APAT had issued orders not to operate on the seniority list till March 7. Meanwhile, Mr G. Ananta Reddy and others approached the Supreme Court to re-open the Contempt Petition against the Principal Secretary, Home Department, and the DGP for non-revision of the
previous panels for the ranks of DSSP (Civil), as against the undertaking already given to the SC. The matter came up for hearing on May 2 in 2014 and the court posted the case for hearing on July 7, asking for personal appearance of the AP principal secretary and DGP.
