Ordinance Bill within 3 days
Hyderabad: As per the norms, the President needs to assent withdrawal of an Ordinance before a Bill replacing an Ordinance is introduced in either House of Parliament. Due to this technical glitch, Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Monday sought withdrawal of introduction of the Bill which Speaker Sumitra Mahajan permitted.
A senior Cabinet minister said that after getting the necessary communication from Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Bill replacing the Ordinance would be introduced within the next two to three days. Due to the din and the entire Opposition making a ruckus, there was no chance for the TRS MPs to raise the issue separately.
The MPs later met Home Minister, Mr Singh, and asked him not to proceed with introduction of the Bill without exploring alternatives to the Polavaram dam design and the extent of submergence. According to senior TRS MP, Mr B. Vinod Kumar, the Home Minister promised to consider the plea favorably.
The TRS MPs also pointed out to Mr Singh about the Union Home Ministry sending a circular to the Telangana government seeking its views on giving more powers to the governor for the common capital area of Hyderabad. They told Mr Singh that this was nothing but infringement into the rights of Telangana people and the elected government.
