K Chandrasekhar Rao ready to adopt innovative methods for development plans
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is all set to adopt innovative methods in devising development plans and welfare schemes.
For the first time, there will be no common sche-mes or plans for the entire state. Instead, the government will adopt district, mandal and village-specific schemes to suit local needs.
Mr Rao convened a high-level meeting at the MCRHRDI with his Cabinet ministers, IAS officials and public representatives on Monday to devise area-specific plans and schemes which his government plans to implement in the next five years.
So far, any scheme being implemented by the state governments covered the entire state irrespective of whether it is relevant or not to a particular area.
Mr. Rao, who already held a preliminary meeting with some of the senior officials last week at the same venue, is of the firm view that any development plan or scheme should not be devised by sitting in Hyderabad by some officials.
Instead, all the stakeholders right from sarpanch to the Chief Minister at the administration level and village secretary to principal secretary at executive level have to be involved to achieve desired results. For that reason, he invited all the stakeholders for the brain-storming session on Monday.
Mr Rao also expressed displeasure over the existing schemes and plans saying that they lack “Telangana focus.”
“The present schemes and plans are prepared by the rulers of united AP. The AP partisan attitude is clearly visible in these programmes. If necessary, the existing Acts may be revised in tune with the aspirations of the people of Telangana. Some Acts, which are irrelevant to Telangana, may be scrapped,” he told officials.
"The new state should follow new governance and be an innovative path for development from village to state level. Everyone should be involved in preparing the development plans. This is to give a feeling that this is my village, my mandal, my district and my state among all the people’s representatives and officials," Mr Rao said.
