Who tied up former Karnataka CM, HD Kumaraswamy in tapes?
Bengaluru: When controversies break out in quick succession, there is surely something more than what meets the eye.
Just on the heels of Slapgate - the controversy involving a ruling Congress MLA - comes another in which opposition leader H.D. Kumaraswamy is heard in an audio CD allegedly demanding money from a MLC aspirant of his party, the JD(S).
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who has been battling to defend Slapgate MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar, and Mr Kumarawamy, are old rivals from their days together in the JD(S). The audio CD surfaced mysteriously with news channels quick to latch on to it. Slapgate in which the MLA and his associates allegedly assaulted cops while partying at a bar in the city, has refused to die down with the police wary of acting against the legislator and the opposition turning the heat on the Congress.
Just when the opposition was set to tighten the screws on the CM, comes the HDK expose with the JD(S) now on the back foot and fighting the combined might of the Congress and BJP.
Mr Kumaraswamy’s defense: “There is nothing that corroborates that someone has paid any money”. A belligerent Mr Siddaramaiah hit out at him saying, “A mistake is a mistake. If a cat drinks milk closing its eyes, it doesn't mean the entire world is not watching it drink the milk.”
