Seek sops, Chandrababu Naidu tells MPs
Hyderabad: The meeting of Andhra Pradesh MPs with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu resulted in identifying 35 issues pertaining to state development to be discussed with the Union government.
The meeting has decided to request the Centre to sanction Rs 5,000 crore for the construction of the new capital city.
Mr Naidu asked the MPs to work together to pressurise the Central government to bring more funds and projects to the state. “It is a crucial time for the state. All MPs should work together,” Mr Naidu told the MPs
The meeting was attended by TD, BJP and Congress MPs. YSRC MPs abstained from the meeting.
Mr Naidu said that the government is taking steps to give 24 hours power supply to domestic and industrial sectors and nine hours of power supply to the agriculture sector from next December. He said that he is taking steps to put the administration on track in the next three months. When Congress MP and former minister J.D. Seelam remarked that because of the Congress, Andhra Pradesh got special status, TD MP Sujana Chowdary, BJP MP K. Haribabu objected and alleged that the Congress has done injustice to the state. Mr Naidu intervened and said “This is the not time for arguments. Now we will all have to work together in co-ordination and try to get more funds from the Centre.”
He told the MPs to meet the concerned Union ministers and take the steps for speedy implementation of projects.
He said that he has already asked the Centre to extend the special category status to the state for 15 years.
