GHMC commissioner directed the police and ASCI officials to place proposals for constructing 30 FoBs

Hyderabad: GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar held a meeting with the officials of traffic, GHMC, RTC and ASCI, and visited many places to find out the infrastructural facilities the city needed.

The commissioner felt the queue system should be adopted at terminals where space is available. Proper seating, boards and railings should be provided at bus stops, he said. Mr Somesh said that every bus and bus shelter must be given a unique number to link it with the GPS system. He also said that bus shelters should be branded. He directed the RTC to appoint staffers to regulate traffic at bus stops during peak hours. The commissioner said that there is a need for 600 more bus shelters.

He directed the police and ASCI officials to place proposals for constructing 30 FoBs (foot over bridges) with transparent elevators to check accidents caused while crossing roads. He also directed the police and ASCI officials to list out ‘labour addas,’ where labourers assemble searching for employment. He said the GHMC wants to set up ‘sheds’ in such locations to protect them from heat and rain.
