File cases if state land is misused: K Chandrasekhar Rao
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao held a meeting with senior officials of the revenue department to discuss land available for allotment to industries. Deputy Chief Minister Mohd. Mahmood Ali was also present.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the district collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy were already on the job to find government lands that are stuck under legal disputes or encroachments.
Mr Chandrasekhar Rao was reportedly shocked to learn that the government does not even possess 7,000 acres in both Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. In Ranga Reddy district, which is known to be the IT hub, the government owns just about 6,500 acres, while another 9,000 acres are stuck in legal disputes.
He asked officials to take legal measures to get back 9,000 acres of disputed lands at the earliest by submitting solid proof to courts. Mr Rao is also firm on taking over unutilised lands accounting for over 292 acres on the city outskirts that were allotted to various firms by earlier governments in the undivided state. He asked officials to issue notices to 73 firms, which failed to utilise land so far, within a week and take over the land.
As many as 480 firms, mostly private ones, obtained land accounting for 3,276 acres on the city outskirts. These are valuable lands located in Shaikpet and Bandlaguda manda-ls. While 292 firms have utilised the land, another 189 firms failed to do so and the land has been lying unused for years.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that some firms even resorted to irregularities by putting the land up for sale, while some others leased it out to others. Mr Rao asked officials to file criminal cases against such firms or persons, who misused the land.
Mr Rao also expressed annoyance over the encroachment of land belonging to Government ENT Hospital in Koti and asked officials to initiate legal proceedings against encroachers to get back the land.
