D Srinivas criticises TRS men for defections
Nizamabad: Opposition leader in Legislative Council D. Srinivas criticised the ruling TRS for adopting unethical practices in local body elections. “It is not fair, the ruling party is trying to woo the leaders from Opposition parties,” he alleged.
For achieving Bangaru Telangana, the Congress is ready to extend its support to the state government and will also play a constructive role as the Opposition, he said. Speaking to newsmen here on Saturday, the former PCC chief said the TRS leaders created a panic situation during the MPP elections on Friday. It was unfortunate that the Opposition has sought police protection to participate in the MPP president elections in the district, he said.
Replying to a question, he said that inefficient leaders could only join in ruling party on the pretext of development. He suggested the TRS leadership to mend its ways and respect the democratic values. Mr Srinivas reiterated that they strongly demanded that action be taken against MLCs, including former legislative council deputy chairman Nethi Vidyasagar, who have shifted loyalties from the Congress to the TRS.
“We will decide on approaching the State Human Rights Commission on illegal practices being adopted by the TRS leaders during MPP elections,” he said. Congress senior leader said that their party would have secured more seats in MPP elections hadn’t the TRS hijacked them.
