Former bureaucrats, judges of Rayalaseema want to make Kurnool as capital of AP

Hyderabad: Threatening to take up agitation similar to Telangana movement, intellectuals, former bureaucrats, judges of Rayalseema called on the government to make Kurnool as capital of residual Andhra Pradesh.

Justice Laxman Reddy, member of Rayalaseema Rajadhani Sadhana Samiti said, “Though the Central committee on finding a suitable place for capital for AP is yet take survey and give a report, Vijayawda-Guntur is being hyped as the proposed capital.

Seeking to develop capital city in Kurnool members of the Samiti said that Kurnool, which was the capital for three in erstwhile state in 1965, is most suitable compared the coastal area which is prone to natural calamities, he said.

“Even in Srikrishna Committee said the most backward regions are the districts of Rayalaseema. If the new capital is being developed then taking it up in Rayalaseema will help the region,” said A. Hanumantha Reddy, retd., IG. The Samiti will organise a all-party meeting at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram on Sunday.
