Andhra Pradesh staff dilute stand on ‘options’

The ‘U’ turn comes after AP govt enhanced retirement age from 58 years to 60 years

Hyderabad: Seemandhra staff working in the Secretariat have diluted their stand on the option facility and stated that it should be given only in select cases. The ‘U’ turn comes after the Andhra Pradesh government enhanced the retirement age from 58 years to 60 years for all its employees. Seemandhra employees fear that Telangana employees will opt for AP government service in order to avail the benefit of enhanced retirement age.

AP Secretariat Seeman-dhra Employees Forum chairman Murali Krishna said the option facility should be given only in case of medical emergency or if the couples are working in the two states. “We are not totally against the option facility, but want it to be implemented with checks and balances. The AP government has enhanced retirement age and T employees may flood AP Secretariat if the option facility is given,” he said.

However, T Secretariat Employees association leaders see this as a trick by Seemandhra counterparts. “The Seemandhra employees want option facility so that they can stay back in Hyderabad by opting for T state government service. Their demand that option facility should be extended in medical emergencies is only to mislead T employees that Seemandhra employees are not interested to work for T government, which is actually not the case,” said a Telangana leader.
