Stamps and registration reforms soon in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and revenue minister K.E. Krishnamurthy said that the government had decided to bring about some reforms in the Stamps and Registration department. He said that they were aware of the mad rush to buy land in some areas and it would become a problem for the government in future while acquiring the lands. Keeping this in view the government has issued instructions to district revenue officials regarding land registrations in the state.
The united AP government had set a revenue target of Rs 3,536.71 crore for the Stamps and Registration department for the financial year 2013-14. However, the department achieved only Rs 2,017.16 crore, i.e. 57.03 per cent of the target.
The total number of documents registered was 10,16,891, a decrease of 4,45,000 from the last fiscal. In the present financial year of 2014-15, the AP government has targeted revenues of Rs 4,085.09 crore, an increase of Rs 548.37 crore over last year. The government’s proportionate target up to May 2014 is Rs 592.33 crore and it achieved Rs 361.45 crore i.e. 61.02 per cent.
However, registrations picked up in the last month and the government is still gathering the latest figures regarding land registrations in the state.
