Race on for Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chief post
Tirupati: Despite no signal from the AP government on filling up nominated posts, the race for the post of the chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Trust Board, which administers the richest temple in the country, has already begun within the TD.
While the government is moving slowly to set things in order before filling the nominated posts, the senior TD leaders and those ‘very close’ to the Chief Minister are engaged in hectic lobbying to bag the TTD chief’s post.
Although Chief Minister Naidu has already made his agenda to clean up the TTD clear, speculations about the man to whom he would hand over the mantle has become the ‘hot topic’ in the temple town. Narasaraopet MP Raya-pati Sambasiva Rao, Rajya Sabha MP C.M. Ramesh and former Tirupati MLA Chadalawada Krishnamurthy and several others are in the race for the TTD chief’s post.
Sambasiva Rao had openly aired his views saying that “getting nominated to the TTD chairman’s post was a life-time ambition.”
Meanwhile, the race for the board member posts has also intensified. Besides ex-officio members and the MLA quota under which three MLAs can be nominated to the TTD Trust Board, another eight to nine more members from various backgrounds can be nominated by the government.
The race within the Brahmin community to whom the Chief Minister had promised a berth in the TTD Trust Board has also picked up steam with several names doing the rounds in TTD circles.
