Mumbai: “Achche din” was BJP’s election slogan and now it’s being used by the Opposition to ridicule the Narendra Modi government after the price hike in commodities and services. The Maharashtra BJP has now decided to fight back with aggression. “Acche din does not mean saste din,” BJP leader Vinod Tawde said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Union minister Nitin Gadkari claimed that good days were only three months away.
Addressing a meeting of BJP workers in Mumbai, Mr Tawde said that the Modi government would bring good days, but would not announce freebies. “Opposition targeted Modi government after increase in railway ticket fare. But the previous Congress government has burdened the railways with a Rs 25,000-crore loan. Fare hike was necessary to bring the Railways out of this debt in the next three years,” he said. Mr Tawde expressed confidence that the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance will win Maharashtra Assembly elections.

State BJP president Devendra Fadnavis urged party workers not to be defensive on the issue. He asked the partymen to aggressively take on the state government. “Do not worry about state government victimising you. Now our government is at the Centre,” Mr Fadnavis said.
BJP leaders including Mr Fadnavis and Rajiv Pratap Rudy indicated that the Centre would announce major decisions in the budget next week in order to tackle inflation. This sentiment was also supported by Mr Gadkari who said that benefits of Modi government’s decisions would be felt after three months.
“The country is going through tough times because of bad governance of the UPA. But we are working to change the situation. It will take three months,” Mr Gadkari said.
