Android L will land on the Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10

Google has announced the Android L at the Google IO 2014 developer conference

Mumbai: Google had announced the next Version of the Android operating system, but restrained from revealing the actual final release name and stuck to naming it as Android L.

In order to roll out the final operating system, Google has opened up and shared the source codes of the new operating system, Android L, so that they can get ready with new apps and refine their older existing apps to gain compatibility with the new OS. For now, Google announced and gave out the source codes for the Nexus 7 and Nexus 5 handsets. Developers and other fans around the world were kept in the dark whether other Nexus handsets would be getting the update.

According to Talk Android, those who own the Nexus 4, older Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10 will also get the Android L developer preview. Sadly, those few who still have the Nexus and Nexus S, which released with Android Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich, will not be seeing the new OS. It seems that Google has drawn a line somewhere. However, since the source code is out, it won’t be long until the developers cook up a ROM based on Android L for them too.
