Pushkar death doctor made up false charges: AIIMS

Aiims’ doctor had alleged that he had been “pressured” to “manipulate the autopsy report

New Delhi: On Tuesday, Aiims’ department of forensic medicine and toxicology head Dr Sudhir Gupta had alleged that he had been “pressured” to “manipulate the autopsy report of Sunanda Pushkar”.

Dr Gupta said that “continuous pressure” was put on him by the director of Aiims “by calling repeated meetings on the autopsy matter”.

Aiims spokesmen rejected these claims on Wednesday, saying there was “no evidence that any pressure from outside was put on Sudhir Gupta to alter the autopsy report”.

The director of Aiims, Prof. M.C. Mishra, could not be contacted as he is learnt to be in the United States now. Dr Gupta too remained absent from his office all through Wednesday.

Aiims officials said Dr Gupta may be “making up these allegations” following reports that he could be replaced, while the doctor said in his CAT affidavit that there was a move to “illegally punish him for refusing to act unprofessionally in the Sunanda Pushkar autopsy” case.

Mr Tharoor wrote in a Facebook post: “Upon the tragic loss of my wife Sunanda and from the very beginning, I have requested for a thorough investigation by the authorities to be conducted and concluded rapidly and transparently.”
