PMO asks for new tech to prevent ‘cyber attack’
New Delhi: The Prime Minister’s Office has asked the National Technical Research Organisation to develop a new and enhanced firewall technology to protect key government data, computers and sites from hackers and subversive elements.
Intelligence inputs available with the government reveal that Chinese and Pakistani agencies have now developed technology to even target individual computers of top government functionaries in India.
In fact, Pakistan’s ISI is training hackers to use this technology for launching a “cyber war against India”.
A recent cyber security audit by the office of the NSA has revealed that key government sectors like defence, PMO, Isro, atomic energy, DRDO, power, finance, particularly the financial and stock markets, are vulnerable to a cyber attack.
