Why just 9 seats? Congressmen to explain loss in Lok Sabha Polls
State congress leaders would participate in the review exercise and submit individual reports
Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC president Dr. G. Parameshwar and several other leaders are headed to New Delhi to explain to a panel headed by A.K. Antony the reasons for the party’s poor performance in Lok Sabha polls.
On Wednesday, these leaders would participate in the review exercise and submit individual reports on why the party failed to win more seats in state.
Besides Mr. Siddaramaiah and Dr. Parameshwar, Chairman of the campaign committee Veeranna Mattikatti, state Youth Congress president Rizwan Arshad, state Women Congress president Manjula Naidu, president of the state unit of NSUI Siddhaveera, head of Sevadal Bhima Shankar and president of the state SC/ST wing N. Manjunath have been summoned to Delhi to meet the members of the panel. Actress Ramya, who lost by a narrow margin in Mandya, and Manjunath Bhandari who was defeated by over three lakh votes in Shimoga, would also face the committee, a senior leader told Deccan Chronicle.
The leader said: “The committee will hold sessions separately, one with all leaders who have been invited including Mr. Siddaramaiah and Dr Parameshwar, and the second exclusively with Mr. Siddaramaiah and Dr Parameshwar.”
The leader said “The first meeting with leaders and defeated MPs will be more or less a formal meeting where everyone may put up an united front. The second meeting with Mr Siddaramaiah and Dr Parameshwar will deal with crucial issues about infighting within the party.”
