Centre wants peace during division process

MHA is eager to maintain peace between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi: The MHA is eager to maintain peace between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. “Our concern is that law and order is maintained during such process of division and there is no violence,” a senior official in the Union home ministry said.

After the separate state of Telangana formally came into existence on June 2 following bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, the two states have been negotiating the distribution of assets and allocation of officers belonging to all-India services like IAS, IPS and Indian Forest Service. Sources said the “process is still going on” and the MHA is keeping a close tab on the developments. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have already had differences over the Central government’s decision to incorporate seven mandals of Bhadrachalam division into Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh as part of the Polavaram Project.
