State staff to get first salary in Telangana
The salary for the month of June will be credited to their bank accounts on July 1

Hyderabad: Nearly four lakh Telangana employees will receive their first salary in T-state on Tuesday.
Employees who played a crucial role in achieving T-state by actively participating in several agitation programmes, going on general strikes, notably the 43-day-old Sakala Janula Samme and boycotting duties during the last five years, are excited to receive their salary in their own state for the first time.
They said their decades long dream of working for T-government and receiving salary for the same has been realised and their happiness cannot be expressed in words.
The salary for the month of June will be credited to their bank accounts on July 1.
However, the employees will get salary for only twenty seven-and-a-half days since they have donated one-and-a-half day’s salary for Telangana CM’s relief fund. The remaining one day’s salary of June 1 has been deducted since it was paid along with May salary in the united state on account of bifurcation of state on June 2.
“Though I have been drawing salary every month for the last 15 years, this month’s salary is special for me. We worked for our own T-government and being paid salary for that for the first time. I am happy to be part of it,” said Nagamani, a section officer in Secretariat.
However, the mood of the employees from Telangana and Seemandhra in the Secretariat was quite different on Monday.
Many employees from both the states retired on the last day of June. While Seemandhra employees were jubilant as they got two more years of service with their retirement age increased from 58 to 60 years, T-employees remained the unlucky ones as T-government has not taken any decision on this. These employees bid farewell to their colleagues and left the premises with a heavy heart.
However, some T-employees who were allotted to AP following bifurcation of state and supposed to retire on Monday remained the lucky ones as they too were asked to continue and eligible to claim retirement age hike as AP employees for now. They were asked to continue till final allotment is be made.
T-employees who had earlier opposed their allotment to AP and refused to work are now upbeat over the unexpected benefit they got in the form of service extension.
