Sexual assault case: Supreme Court grants bail to Tarun Tejpal
Mumbai: The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted bail to Tehelka founder editor Tarun Tejpal in a sexual assault case. The court has put stringent conditions for release on bail; also mentioning that violation of any one condition would lead to cancellation of bail.

He was earlier granted interim bail, which was extended till July 1. Reportedly, an apex court bench of Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice Shiva Kirti Singh said the interim bail granted to him would continue till the next date of hearing July 1. Tejpal was arrested in Goa after a woman colleague accused him of sexually assaulting her in a hotel in Goa in November 2013.

Tejpal was granted 3 weeks bail on May 19 to perform the last rites and other rituals of his mother. However, bail was extended till June 27 as more rituals were to be completed. Tejpal is charged with rape, sexual harassment and outraging the modesty of a woman.
