Oil, natural gas curb infra growth in May
Infra sector had grown by 4.2 per cent in April 2014
New Delhi: Infra sector (eight core industries) growth slowed down in May expanding by just about 2.3 per cent due to contraction in oil, natural gas and refinery products output. Infra sector had grown by 4.2 per cent in April 2014 and by 5.9 percent in May 2013.
The eight core industries — fertilisers, cement, steel, electricity, crude oil, coal, petroleum refinery products and natural gas — have a combined weight of about 37.90 per cent in the IIP.
For April to May period, infra growth has come to 3.3 per cent against 4.9 per cent in the same period last year.
