Krishna district irrigation department asks for more water, NTTPS at threat
Officials urged Central Water Commission to release water to avoid severe water crisis
Vijayawada: The officials of Krishna district irrigation department urged the Central Water Commission to release water from Nagarjunasagar to avoid severe water crisis of Krishna delta.
The 2.7 tmc of water, which was released from Nagarjunasagar five days ago, has not yet reached Prakasam barrage. The water crisis is also posing a threat for the Narla Tata Rao Thermal Power Station, as power generation at NTTPS needs at least 12 feet water level at Prakasam, which was only 10.7 feet on Sunday.
