Andhra Pradesh to lure IT, pharma firms

Naidu proposes to give land, uninterrupted power supply and water to IT and pharma

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government will come out with a policy friendly to IT, pharma and other industries very shortly.

A single window facility will be provided for all the approvals and permissions needed for setting up industries in the residuary state.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will conduct a special meeting with IT and industry representatives soon. They will be informed about the special status to the residuary AP, its benefits, tax exemptions among other sops offered by the Centre to AP, and other additional incentives the state government will extend.

Mr Naidu has given the task of preparing a road map for development of software, hardware, ITs and industrial promotion in residuary AP to senior IAS officers. The state government proposes to give land, uninterrupted power supply and water to the IT, pharma and industrial sector.

Sources close to Mr Naidu said the Chief Minister has big plans to involve the IT professionals in development of seemandhra. Mr Naidu wants to more than succeed in terms of IT-propelled investments and development in AP.

The AP Chief Minister is also banking on Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, to set up Microsoft office-cum-campus in residuary AP. It may be mentioned that it is only after Microsoft came to Hyderabad, that other IT brands like Dell and Oracle to name a few followed.

“As the former CEO of undivided AP, Mr Naidu realises the importance of offices like Microsoft coming to AP. If he could convince Bill Gates to set up his company in unidivided AP, he can do wonders for Seemandhra and its new capital. All of us are sure that none of our children (youngsters) need to go to Hyderabad or jobs in 5 to 10 years from now as Mr Naidu will bring IT companies, Pharma and other industries creating employment for lakhs of people. You name a brand and it will be there in AP,” said a source close to the CM.

A forum of industrialists have already assured Mr Naidu of an immediate investment of up to '5,600 crore in IT, pharma and engineering units. Land and water sources are available abundantly for IT projects in Anantapur.
