New Delhi: The president of Youth Hostel Association of India allegedly managed to travel in more than 104 countries by getting favours in visas from embassies and tax exasperations from the government by showing the President of India as the chief patron of firm.

DCP of New Delhi S.B.S Tyagi said that after receiving a complaint against YHAI’s president the police started the probe and contacted the President’s office.

They got to know that YHAI had not been given any permission from the President’s office and they had been misusing the name of the President.
“YHAI had no association with the President’s office. YHAI had not been given permission to use the name of Indian President. Hence a case was made out against YHAI and its president, Harish Kumar Saxena,” said Mr Tyagi.

According to the information, YHAI had been misusing the name of the President of India since 1985. B.D. Sharma, a life member of YHAI had lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Saxena was showing the President of India as chief patron of YHAI to get favours in visa from embassies, to avail rebates and tax exemptions and manage to travel in more than 104 countries.

The complainant claimed that he also met with the late Congress MP from Rajya Sabha Ram Niwas Mirdha to complain against Saxena but no action was taken. He then lodged the complaint.
