Hyderabad: A man was sentenced to 10 years in jail for assisting his nephew to rape his wife at Narayanguda. The husband asked his nephew, who was then 25 years old, to have sex with his wife in order to beget a healthy child.
The couple earlier had a child, but the kid died a few days after birth. The wife alleged that her husband closed her mouth and caught both of her hands while his nephew raped her. The court sentenced the nephew to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.
Police said the incident occurred on January 12, 2010 midnight. “The couple married in 2004, and was living at their house in Narayanguda. The husband asked his nephew to have sex with his wife as his child was unhealthy. Both men came to their house at midnight and overpowered the victim. Her mother-in-law was sleeping after consuming alcohol when the incident occurred,” the police officials said.
When the 25-year-old victim resisted, her husband held her down. When she tried to scream, he closed her mouth with his hand. “After the incident they threatened to kill her if she revealed it to anyone,” the officials said.
Four days after the incident, a police team from Narayanguda arrested both the accused.
The husband later confessed to the police that after the death of his first child due to illness, his wife never became pregnant. So he asked his nephew to impregnate his wife to keep the bloodline same.
Police completed the investigation and submitted the chargesheet in 40 days. The court charged the accused with rape. After the trial which lasted years the court pronounced the verdict on Friday.
Apart from 10 years of imprisonment the convicts were also asked to pay Rs 1,000 as fine, and if not to undergo simple imprisonment for six months.
