Having broccoli regularly reduces asthma attacks: study
Mumbai: Having steamed broccoli everyday could help asthmatics, according to a new study.
Researchers from Melbourne University have discovered that the sulforaphane naturally occurring in broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables help protect against respiratory inflammation that can cause asthma, The Daily Mail reported.
'Our research could help those people in particular that are resistant to the current treatment options,' Dr Tom Karagiannis said.
Broccoli contains high vitamin A and C, vitamin B-6 qualities and is also rich in iron, calcium and dietary fiber. As it is a part of the cabbage family, it is also believed to have anti-carcinogenic properties.
Other Cruciferous family vegetables such as kale, brussels sprouts, cauliflower and bok choy could also help reduce as well as reverse lung damage.
