Vijayawada land: Big-shots capitalise fast
Vijayawada: Several prominent personalities from the film world, industries and politics have bought property in the vicinity of Nagarjuna University, which is now being actively considered for setting up the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.
According to sources, the big-shots zeroed in on the university area and other parts of Vijayawada city for their investments several years ago. A few of them also bought lands recently. As per reports, film actors Junior NTR, Srikanth, Ravi Teja, Krishna, Krishnam Raju, Ashwini Dutt, close relatives of Mohan Babu purchased the huge parcels of land near Nagarjuna University and surroundings of Gannavaram.
Nearly 60 acres belonging to Ashwini Dutt and Krishnam Raju are likely to be acquired for expansion of the Gannavaram airport. Moreover, two MLAs, one from the TD and another from the YSRC, who are close relatives, bought nearly 50 acres of land near the university.
Likewise, one former MP and a present MP, who were in the Congress earlier, had purchased 200 acres each within a radius of 10 km from Mangalagiri town. There are rumours in the realty market that a prominent Hyderabad-based hotel group has proposed to buy 15 acres of land for Rs 90 crore.
A leading private educational group also bought 20 acres near the university. MAYTAS company purchased lands earlier, but another corporate group bought it from them and converted it into a mega venture. As per reports, a former Union minister has shares in this business.
The government also sold nearly 200 acres of Associated Cement Companies (ACC) lands to private realtors at a cheap rate. One former Union minister, who is at present in the YSRC, and another present TD MLA jointly bought lands at Krishna Nagar, a part of Tadepalli municipality.
Mangalagiri sub-registrar Madasu Srinivasa Rao said that nearly 50 transactions are being done every day in his office. The number of transactions almost doubled and nearly 1,000 expensive flats were sold during the swearing-in ceremony of Chandrababu Naidu.
The government also sold valuable land which was originally proposed for a tyres factory on the outskirts of Mangalagiri town. Now, the land prices are skyrocketing and each acre costs Rs 20 crore in the market. Recently, a business person bought eight acres of land for Rs 40 crore in Kesarapalli village of Krishna district.
