Three-storey building collapses in Delhi, 7 killed
Mumbai: A three-storey residential building collapsed in Tulsi Nagar area of Inder Lok in Delhi. At least 20 people are feared trapped under the debris and 7 are dead, as per sources.
According to eye-witnesses the incident took place at 8:30 in the morning.
While around 11 people have been rescued from the debris, 3 of them seriously injured, some other persons are believed to be trapped under the debris. Rescue operations underway at the site of building collapse.
"The building was around 50 year old and a number of families lived there. 8 to 10 people have been rescued from the debris so far. Search and rescue operations are on. Some more may be trapped in the rubble although the number cannot be ascertained as of now," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Madhur Verma. According to fire officials, they got a call around 9 AM about a building collapsing at Tulsi Nagar in Inderlok following which four fire tenders were rushed to the spot for the rescue operations. The incident took place in a congested locality and seems to have been caused by construction work on an adjacent plot, a fire official said.
