Police books Gail for old pipelines

Police has booked a case of negligence under Section 304A against Gail officials
Vijayawada: While the police has ruled out the sabotage angle in the Gail pipeline mishap on Friday, it was found that a tea vendor had lit the stove that led to the leaked gas exploding.
Police has booked a case of negligence under Section 304A against Gail officials for negligence in maintaining the pipeline that led to the leakage.
Additional DG (Law and Order) R.P. Thakur said, “There is no sabotage angle in the mishap. It is a very old pipeline and some petroleum experts claim there is a defect in the design too. It was leaking for a long time. The gas got accumulated. As Gail maintains the pipeline, we booked a negligence case against them.”
Though the gas had been leaking for a few months, it was not arrested properly.
