Difficult days for small films: Prem Kumar
Hyderabad: Prem Kumar Patra, after producing two Telugu films, Aa Naluguru and Vinayakudu, both Nandi Award winners, is now making his third film Aa Aiduguru.
“All my films are completely different from regular commercial films. I wish to spread social awareness through my films,” says Prem Kumar. He makes small budget films and has faced a lot of struggles while releasing his films.
“It’s not a good time for small films. The distributors and exhibitors invest crores in big films without knowing the story and end up losing money. But they never encourage small films which might do well. Such films also cost less, so the risk factor is minimal,” says Prem Kumar.
Aa Aiduguru, he says, is not a political film, but current issues do feature in the film. “This film’s story portrays the common man in the present society. We do not show any solutions, but only highlight the most common issues of the society,” he says.
In the film an IPS officer resigns and enters politics to change the society and starts an organisation called ‘New Generation of Force’. “Most of the actors are new faces and Venkat is playing a vital character,” says Prem Kumar.
The film is releasing on July 4. “My earlier film Aa Naluguru has been in the top 100 films of Telugu cinema from the beginning. I never produce films for money and I always focus on social awareness,” he says.
