IPL spot-fixing: Sourav Ganguly may attend Mudgal committee’s July meeting
Mumbai: The Supreme Court-appointed Justice (Retd) Mukul Mudgal committee which is probing the allegations of betting and spot-fixing in the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will meet on July 4 and 5 in Delhi, it is learnt here.
According to the sources close to Sourav Ganguly, the former India captain who has been in London, will fly down to Delhi especially for this two-day meeting.
Ganguly has been recruited in the committee on recommendations by the Supreme Court. The Apex Court had directed the probe committee to take a cricketer of ‘impeccable integrity’ on board to assist them on the cricketing matters related to the scandal.
It could not be confirmed whether Sourav Ganguly has been made aware about the "confidential report" which has the names of Indian cricketers suspected in the scam.
The secret investigations by police in three cities (Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai) under the watchful eyes of B.B.Mishra are underway.
However, according to the sources, all players named in the report could not be interrogated as few of them are away in England and the police party has no jurisdiction to go to England to interrogate them.
