Hyderabad: Citizens in rural areas of Seemandhra are already battling six to eight hours of official power cuts while it’s two to four hours in urban areas i.e. municipal corporations and municipality areas. The shortage of 1,300 MW power generation would only worsen the power supply situation and trigger massive power cuts.
A senior official in the Operations unit said that as on Thursday, the AP state was able to meet 5,100 MW power supply as against a demand of 5,900 MW. “Officials got down to restoring the power generation in Vijayawada Thermal Power Station, Rayalaseema Thermal Station followed by the one at Krishnapatnam. As far as wind energy is concerned, it all depends upon the wind,” he said.
It may be mentioned that already both AP and Telangana are in a crisis due to power distribution woes. The situation worsened in AP three days back due to coal shortage and now the tripping at units has left the power supply position in a rather poor shape.
