Sai Trust files plea against Swaroopananda Saraswati
Hyderabad: The Shirdi Sai Trust has lodged a complaint against the Shankaracharya of Dwaraka Peeth Swaroopananda Saraswati, accusing him of hurting religious sentiments with his alleged remarks against Saibaba.
Inspector B. Naveen Reddy said the police has sought legal opinion on the complaint. In their complaint the Sai trust said the statement of Shankaracharya against Sai Baba has hurt a large number of his devotees. The Sai trust runs a Saibaba Temple at Saroornagar.
“We have sought legal opinion about the complaint by the trust. We will proceed with the case once we get the expert’s opinion,” said Mr. Naveen Reddy. Earlier, similar complaints were lodged against the Shankaracharya at Shirdi in Maharashtra, and Indore in MP. The Shirdi police had booked a case against Swaroopananada. In Varanasi, followers of Saibaba staged a demonstration and burnt the effigy of Swaroopanada demanding that he withdraw the statement.
Swaroopananda had said that Sai Baba was not god. This angered Sai Baba devotees across the country.
