Social media's hilarious take on Suarez's biting incident
Hyderabad: It was a do or die situation for Italy and Uruguay in their World Cup encounter on Tuesday and while everyone was looking forward to a nail-biting match, no one thought the match would actually have a very ‘biting’ finish.
Luis Suarez, who does seem to have a biting habit went for it again as he sunk his teeth into Italy’s defender Giorgio Chiellini’s shoulder. And that was all the Web needed.
From memes to Tweets, the Uruguay player is all over the Internet. And even though Suarez, who took Uruguay to victory against England and could have been one of the most influential players for the team, now faces a ban, he for now, is the new favourite of meme makers.
While one credits him for the half bitten logo of the Apple brand, Suarez has also taken over the Silence of the Lambs poster as the new Hannibal Lector. And it doesn’t end here.
Meanwhile, Twitter users went wild with Photoshop as some have given the player a dog muzzle while others have added a caption to Suarez’s picture: “If you can’t beat them, eat them.”
One user going by the handle @Cheers_geoff even stated: “Looks like Luis Suarez got hungry again, he fancied some Italian meatballs”, while Canadian TV personality, Arda Ocal, gave a Twilight reference, stating: “How does Luis Suarez not burst into flames in the sunlight? #WorldCup2014”.
And what’s more, the chocolate brand Snickers, even released an ad after the match that read “More satisfying than Italian.”
Well played, social media.
