Medical staff transferred to Ayush protest
Hyderabad: Ninety-four employees of the Nizamia General Hospital have been transferred to the Ayush department, leaving the hospital in lurch. Staff nurses, head nurses, ayahs, ward boys, resident medical officers and doctors, who form the backbone of the hospital, have been sent to the administration department of Ayush of Telangana at Abids. However, they have refused to take the transfer orders and are protesting outside the hospital, demanding that be retained.
A senior nurse said, “What will nurses, ward boys and ayahs do in the administration department? We have been trained in hospital work and patient-care and must be assigned the same work. By posting us in the administration department, our skills are wasted.”
Even resident medical officers have got transfer orders, but they are clueless. A junior doctor said, “We can’t work as field officers checking medical stores of homoeopathy and ayurvedic departments. We are practicing Unani doctors and must be allotted jobs at that level.”
