Really working hard to fit in on 'Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi': Radhika Madan

Mumbai: Danseuse Radhika Madan is making an entry as an actor with Ekta Kapoor’s new TV show, 'Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi'. Radhika, who hails from Delhi, was spotted by Ekta during a dance recital.
“Ekta is very sweet and when she spoke to me (about this show), it was like a dream come true. She saw one of my performances and called me to Mumbai to an audition for her show. Initially, I didn’t think I would be selected, because I haven’t acted before, but I still went ahead. But just as I was stepping out of the audition, I was told that I’d got the role. It was a huge surprise!” Radhika recounts.
Radhika tells us that what made her take up this show, and acting, was the script: “It’s a love story and I am really working hard to fit in on the show as an actress. I’m very comfortable with Shakti Arora, who is the lead actor. What I’ve seen with the cast members is that they know how to switch into their characters while the shot is on, and immediately get back to normal once it’s done. I’m taking a little time to do that. Gauri Pradhan helps me out and we share a great rapport.”
Radhika doesn’t follow small screen soaps too regularly, although she has managed to catch a few episodes of Beintehaa. She doesn’t count any TV stars as her favourite actors either, although she does have her Bollywood favourite — Ranveer Singh, who she feels is also a very good dancer.
As she gets used to the emoting for the cameras, she is also getting accustomed to life in Mumbai. “The city may be new to me, but I adore it! I feel I can be myself here,” she says.
Before Ekta’s show came her way, Radhika was supposed to head to New York for a dance workshop in August. However, she has cancelled her tickets now. However, she is still continuing with her college education. “I was in the first year of college when I got the offer from Ekta. I’m completing my studies via a correspondence course now,” she says.
