What is Pawar's interest in Lavasa: Uddhav Thackeray

Pawar did not show the same interest in clearing the schemes meant for the poor

Pune: Shiv Sena president UddhavThackeray on Wednesday questioned NCP chief Sharad Pawar's keen interest in the Lavasa hill city project of Hindustan Construction Company, saying he did not pursue the development schemes for the poor with the same eagerness.

Referring to Pawar's statement that there were 26 sites in Maharashtra that can be developed on the lines of Lavasa to promote tourism, Thackeray said, "Pawar, who tried to get environmental clearance for Lavasa project, did not show the same interest in clearing the schemes meant for the poor." "What is his interest in Lavasa?" Thackeray asked, addressing the party workers here.

The Shiv Sena president also targeted Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan saying that after being sluggish in clearing files as alleged by Pawar himself, Chavan was now hastening to take pending decisions as the Assembly elections were around the corner.

Thackeray urged the party workers to take up people's issues and ensure victory of the saffron alliance in the Assembly elections, due later this year.

He also said that he would not welcome those who wanted to join Shiv Sena now for "selfish gains".
