Sunil Tatkare appointed as Maharashtra Nationalist Congress Party president

All lauded Tatkare's organisational skills and his rise from humble beginnings

Mumbai: Maharashtra Water Resources Minister Sunil Tatkare was appointed president of the state NCP unit on Wednesday.

Tatkare replaces Bhaskar Jadhav, who held the post since June 14, 2013.

At the extended working committee meeting of the party, Jadhav proposed Tatkare's name for the post.

The proposal was seconded by senior party leaders Madhukar Pichad, Hassan Mushrif, Anil Deshmukh and Anna Dange.

Mushrif said he hoped Tatkare will ensure that NCP gets the post of chief minister after the state Assembly elections, slated later this year.

All speakers lauded Tatkare's organisational skills and his rise from humble beginnings as sarpanch and Raigad zilla parishad and municipal council president to holding ministerial portfolios like finance and water resources.

Party chief Sharad Pawar and senior leader Praful Patel were present on the occasion.
