Education system common to both states, says Ganta Srinivas Rao
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh HRD minister Ganta Srinivas Rao in his memorandum to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on the fee reimbursement issue said: “It is a matter of serious concern since it is not only detrimental to the interest of the students of both the states, but is against the right to equality and equal opportunity,” he said.
Mr Rao reiterated that the Reorganisation Act allowed for the current education system to be common to both states for 10 years.
The Telangana government had proposed that a student’s father would also have to be born in Telangana to be eligible for fee reimbursement in the state. Experts say it is right on part of the TRS government to do so; in case it agrees to pay for all locals, it would add to the financial burden.
Telangana chief secretary Rajiv Sharma has said previously that the fee reimbursement scheme is a welfare scheme and not an academic scheme.
