Two weeks after the tragedy in Beas river, bodies of three victims, B. Ritwik Rao, M. Kiran Kumar, and Ch. Parameswar were brought to Hyderabad on Monday. Bodies of Kiran and Parameswar were later taken to their native places in Khammam and Warangal and Kiran’s last rites were performed in Khammam on Monday.
B. Ritwik Rao, 19, a brilliant student of second year, B.Tech EIE batch, was known in VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute for his leadership qualities. “He was the vice-chairman of institute’s convergence fest last year. He had been working hard for the upcoming fest of this academic year earning many sponsorships for the programme,” said his classmate and a mishap survivor Khetan.
Ritwik, who was a resident old Nallakunta, was a close friend of another Beas victim Devashish Bose. The second student, M. Kiran Kumar, had rescued three students by pushing them towards banks before being swept away in the swirling water. VNR college students have said that they would request the government to honour Kiran with a posthumous bravery award.
