Maintain status quo on PPAs, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh told

SRLDC said it would submit a report to the Centre which will decide further course of action

Hyderabad: Superintendent engineers, chief engineers and officials from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana attended an official meeting called by the SRLDC (Southern Regional Load Dispatch Centre) in Bengaluru over scheduling issues. The SRLDC has intervened to restore some grid discipline into the system and has asked officials from both states to maintain status quo over the PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) issue and power supply till the Centre takes a decision.

After hearing arguments, SRLDC said it would submit a report to the Centre which will decide further course of action. Till then, both sides must maintain status quo and not hamper grid operations.

“By cutting off power supply to one area, there is additional load on another region, which has to provide back-up for the region which lost power. As both sides are resorting to power cuts to the other side, the grid is getting sudden jolts due to power imbalance. This can lead to a grid failure. The SRLDC has asked to both sides to maintain grid discipline,” said a highly placed source.
