Home secretary Anil Goswami to brief Prime Minister on safety issue
New Delhi: Home secretary Anil Goswami is all set to brief PM Narendra Modi on key internal security challenges in a detailed presentation expected to be made this week.
This will be Mr Modi’s first detailed interaction with a secretary of a key central ministry on concerns facing the Centre on issues of policing, threats from Left wing extremism, Northeast insurgent groups as well as the need to strengthen the border guarding mechanisms in the face of infiltration threats on the Pakistan border and the incursions on the India-China border.
The threats from cross-border outfits and the organised fake Indian currency network which is being seen as a huge threat to the economic security are likely to be flagged by the home secretary in his presentation. On Tuesday, Mr Goswami along with the joint secretaries briefed the home minister Rajnath Singh on the issues that are likely to be flagged before the Prime Minister in the next few days.
While a date is yet to be fixed for the MHA’s presentation to Mr Modi, sources said the meeting may happen this week.
The MHA’s safe city project which entails mega city policing , best global practices and modernisation of the police forces, the growing menace of naxalism in Chattisgarh, infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir, are also likely to be taken up during the meet.
